Up and Coming

I am not much in the mood for a cold ride. More work, less ride today. Less riding equals more time to think about riding and make plans to ride. Like planning to do a race. It is the planning that will burn your ass in one way or another. I always seem to plan for a race, which is the easy part, but the commitment to training for a specefic or even a random event seems to never happen. So I suffer and suffer and make all sorts of promises to myself during the race at anaerobic threhsold. "Next year I will build a base, and then do intervals, and blah, blah, blah. So no more of that, at least not int the month of November. With that being said, that leaves Swank 65 out of my schedule again this year.

I guess Tour de Felasco will be my next organized event. I would encourage your participation in this fantastic event but it filled up less than two days after registration began. But luckily I am in, so is my old friend Albert and also my buddy Wayne, a transplant from Jamaica (see pic below, Wayne is the Chinese Jamaican on the right).

Also on the horizon a monthe after the Tour de Felaso is a possible trip to Tucscon, AZ. May race 24 hrs in the Old Pueblo, may not. I will let fitness or wifey make the call, I bet both say no. You have got to check out TucsonMTB.com. A great website with all the information formated to where any tourist idiot like me can come wander around on your favorite local trails. Every city with mountain biking in there vicinity should have as good a website. I do love the arid dry riding, what a change from here in the Southeast.

Brrrrr Its Cold in the Southeast

It is unseasonably cold here. Too cold for me to ride tonight. Yeah I know, I am a big sissy, but I do not like the cold.
I ordered a new cog for the Niner and added a sticker pack so that when people see the FJC, toolbox or anything else I decide to emblazen with the sticky goodies they know my affiliation. As if it matters, but I want them to "know dammit". I am anxious to try out the Cogalicious Cog I hope it is so delicious that I puke while climbing.

Oh yeah! Consumerism, I don't "need" one but I gotta "have" one. Debuted at Interbike this year, the Chris King Bottom Bracket comes in the right color green to match my other King components on the Niner. Right now on the Niner I am running a Truvative Stlyo for which the BB will not be available until spring, which in the Chris King production time span means some spring that maybe light years away. Oh well, I guess I might just do my part to single handedly turn our nations economy around and buy a King BB that does not work with my current set up, thereby forcing me to buy a new SS Crankset just for the Bling of it. I need to get busier working or riding more or both, or this delima will drive me insane. I got all winter to get worked up to an ulcer over decisions on tires, stems, bars, brakes and drivetrain bits. It is going to be a long winter.

Working on some riding plans for the weekend, more on that manana. (I wish I had one of those squiggly things that goes above the "n" in Spanish on my keyboard)

On the trail back

Hello no one in particular. Been out of action on the updates for, oh I dunna know, 8 months. Lotsa stuff been going on with moving, work and life, all good though. Looking forward to posting more often now that things are back to normal crazy here.
The Jamaica update will be finished soon and will be archived in a special link on the side bar. Other updates to follow, Tour de Felasco, Chickasaw Trace Classic, Dirt, Sweat and Gears, 12 hrs of the Canal Loop (not much to say about that), and Black Bear Rampage. I know you are on the edge of your seat.
